    Constructed as a Halifax B.IISeries I by English Electric Ltd. at Samlesbury with s/n W1048 RAF.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Air Force with s/n W1048.

    27 March 1942

    Transferred to No 102 Squadron, Dalton.

    9 April 1942

    Transferred to No 35 Squadron, RAF Linton-On-Ouse, Yorkshire.

    23 April 1942

    Transferred to No 35 Squadron, RAF Kinloss, Scotland.

    27 April 1942

    Took off on the first operational mission at 2030 hours.

    28 April 1942

    Shot down or crashed in Lake Hoklingen, Norway and sank in 92 feet of water.

    28 April 1942

    Evaluated as missing, Cat E.

    29 April 1942

    Struck off Strength/Charge.

    1971

    Found by divers.

    September 1972

    No 71 MU from Bicester tasked to raise, dismantle and return the airframe to the UK.

    27 June 1973

    The first lift was attempted but failed.

    30 June 1973

    The second attempt to lift was successful.

    From Unknown to 25 August 1973

    Transported by ship.
    Moved from Noway to the Ipswich Docks.

    25 August 1973

    Transported by ground. Delivered to RAF Museum, Henlow.
    Moved from the docks to Henlow.

    By 1974

    To RAF Museum Store, RAF Henlow.

    11 February 1976

    New serial number assigned: 8465M RAF

    July 1977

    The decision was made to not attempt a a full restoration.

    1982

    To RAF Museum, Grahame Park Way, Hendon, London, England.
    Moved from Henlow to Hendon.
