    Constructed as a Beaufort.

    1974

    Dr. Charles Darby, of New Zealand, recovered a number of Beaufort wrecks from the former Tadji Airstrip in the West Sepik District of Papua New Guinea. These airframes were collected on behalf of Yesterdays Air Force of Chino, CA, which was owned by Mr. David Tallichet.

    Transported by ship. Delivered to Military Aircraft Restoration Company/David Tallichet, Chino, CA.
    Moved to Chino.

    October 1987

    With Tim Routis of the Historic Flying Ltd. acting as the agent for the Ministry of Defense an exchange deal was arranged where the Beaufort was to be restored.

    July 1988

    To Ministry of Defense.
    The exchange deal was confirmed.

    Repair started.

    1990

    Contracted to R. J. Aviation/Bob Schneider, Hawkins, TX for work on the airframe.
    The original restoration effort was terminated and the project was assigned to R. J. Aviation for the completion of the restoration.

    Repair started.
    The restoration was started as a composite of various airframe components. In 2002 examination by the RAFM identified the following identities of the components; A wing section with CR591 14-9-43 stamped in the starboard wheel well. A stern frame from below the starboard tailplane stamped SF478 20-7-43 which is from RAAF s/n A9-478. A cockpit dataplate stamped FF559 4-9-43 which came from RAAF s/n A9-557 which went to the Australian War Memorial and was restored as A9-557. A rear fuselage with plates stamped RF557 26-10-43 which came from RAAF s/n A9-559.

    Transported by ship.
    Shipped to the Felixstow Docks.

    June 1991

    Transported by ground.
    Delivered dismantled to the RAF Museum RC and RC Cardington, Beds. Painted at Cardington.

    10 December 1991

    Loaned to RAF Museum, Grahame Park Way, Hendon, London, England.
    Arrived at Hendon for assembly.

    To RAF Museum, Hendon.
    Formerly donated to the RAF Museum by the Ministry of Defense.
