    Constructed as an UH-1.

    Circa 1966

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army with s/n 66-16171.

    1967

    Transferred to Second Airlift Platoon Scarlet Flight 189th Assault Helicopter Company, Camp Holloway, Pleiku, RVN.

    6 October 1967

    Damaged.
    While being flown by Cpt, Eustice Shiver and 1LT Charles Craig along the Ho Chi Mien Trail, Kingdom Of Laos, the Ghost Rider Aircraft 171 was severely damaged by North Vietnamese Army heavy weapon fire that wounded Cpt Shiver and killed a Special Forces Sergeant with the LRRP team being inserted.

    Cpt Eustice Shiver reports: I was reunited with 171 when I traveled to Camp Douglas, Wisconsin from Milton,Florida to see the aircraft I flew in Vietnam and the one I never stopped thinking about.
