    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 66-13290.

    After August 1967

    Converted to a HH-3E.

    9 November 1967

    Damaged.
    Damaged by enemy fire while on a rescue and recovery mission for a downed pilot. This HH-3E took 1 hit from a 7.62MM weapon in the mid-section, damaging the stucture and internal equipment. No crewmen were harmed and the helo was able to successfully complete all mission objectives and return to base.

    Damaged.
    Damaged by enemy fire while rescuing a downed pilot in a classified area, likely Laos. The helo was climbing at 0225 feet at 80 knots when it took 2 hits from a 7.62MM caliber weapon. The helos electrical and communications systems and structure were damaged by the impacts. No crewmen were harmed and the helo was able to successfully complete all mission objectives and return to base.

    Notes: Original Caption: A U.S. Air Force Sikorsky HH-3E Jolly Green Giant helicopter (s/n 66-13290) of the 37th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron taking off from Da Nang Air Base, South Vietnam, in 1968. The HH-3E 66-13290 was retired to the AMARC as HH0026 on 18 March 1991.

    4 May 1968

    Damaged.
    Heavily damaged by enemy ground fire during an attempted rescue of a downed pilot. While hovering at 30 feet, the helo took 10 hits from 7.62MM caliber weapon(s) on the front-left side. These hits damaged the flight controls, hydraulic systems and airframe structure. The helo was forced to divert prior to the rescue of the downed pilot.

    24 October 1969

    From the Super Sabre Society site: Participated in the rescue of Misty 11, an F-100F Super Sabre. Flew as JOLLY 04 (HH-3E #66-13290) crew members: Lieutenant Richard Victor Butchka, USCG (Pilot); Captain John K. Coder, USAF (Co-Pilot); Sergeant Joseph J. Vai (Flight Engineer); and Airman 1st Class George P. Hoffman III (Pararescueman). After JOLLY 28 was damaged and had to divert, JOLLY 04 completed the rescue. Despite heavy enemy fire, JOLLY 04 miraculously was not hit.

    Transferred to 1st SOW, Hurlburt Field, FL.

    By 1984

    Transferred to 41st ARRW (MATS), Osan AB, Korea.

    2 September 1984

    Forced down by mechanical issues while aiding flood victims in Seoul Korea. Landed on top of 3 buildings, had to be carried back to Osan AB by a Chinook.

    By 1986

    Transferred to 33rd Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron, Kadena AB, Okinawa.

    18 March 1991

    Transferred to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center (AMARC) with inventory number HH0026.

    To National Museum of the United States Air Force Loan Program, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.
