    Constructed as a C-130A-LM by Lockheed at Marietta, GA.

    Circa 1957

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 57-0486.

    1958

    To NASA Langley Research Center, Langley Field, VA.

    Converted to a C-130D-LM by Lockheed at Marietta, GA.

    23 April 1959

    Transferred to 61st TCS, 314th TCW, Sewart AFB, TN.

    From January 1960 to February 1960

    Deployed to Antarctica during Operation ICE FLOW. Landed at South Pole, Byrd and McMurdo stations. Was nicknamed GREAT DANE.

    After December 1965

    Transferred to 17th TCS, 21st Composite Wing, Elmendorf AFB, AK.
    Flew missions supporting the Distant Early Warning (DEW) Line radar sites.

    By 1974

    Transferred to 17th TAS, 21st Composite Wing, Elmendorf AFB, AK.
