    Involved in an incident.
    Summarized NTSB narrative from report number MIA76FLD52: There were no fatalities. Incident occurred at 13:45 hours. The damage was substantial. Incident occurred at the Sarasota/bradentn Airport, Sarasota, FL. This was a local flight from Sarasota, FL. The airframe failed in flight while performing aerobatics. The factors included; separation in flight. The emergency circumstances included; precautionary landing on airport and suspected or known aircraft damage...

    Walt Pierce, longtime ICAS member, air show pilot and Hall of Fame inductee has passed away near his home in Florida. He was 79 years old.

    Notes: Marking the passing of Walt Pierce -Throughout the seventies, eighties and nineties, Pierce was a headliner at every show where he performed. And throughout his nearly 50-year air show career, the one constant was Ol Smoky, the 450 horsepower Stearman that he flew since the late 1960s.
