    Constructed as a Spitfire Vc.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Air Force with s/n JK808.

    1945

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Yugoslav Air Force with s/n 9489.

    Circa 1958

    Placed on display with Kalemegdan Fortress, Belgrade, Serbia.

    Markings Applied: 9486
    Actually this YAF serial belonged to another Spitfire Mk Vc that was ex-RAF MH592. This superficial identity change later caused confusion about aircraft true identity. To such extent that some sources still erroneously quotes MH592 as the aircraft original serial.

    Actually this RAF serial belonged to another Spitfire Mk Vc that crashed during the war.

    1973

    Restored.
    During thorough restoration work and detailed investigation of several previous paint layers the true identity of this aircraft was confirmed as RAF JK808 which later became YAF 9489.

    Original serial restored.
