    Constructed as an A-20G-25-DO.

    Circa 1943

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 43-9436.

    Transferred to 89th Bombardment Squadron, 3rd Bombardment Group, 5th Air Force, Nadzab, Papua New Guinea.
    Operated with markings: Big Nig
    From Gary Parsons vis Key.Aero - 23-Jun-2010: Big Nig is a caricature of its regular pilot, Captain James L Folse, who supposedly resembled a Damon Runyan character of that period.

    3 May 1944

    Crashed.
    After a raid on Japanese forces at Wewak it was damaged by ground fire and was forced to land in the Bumbura Swamp near Annamberg in the Ramu Valley of New Guinea. Abandoned on site.

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the United States Army Air Force.
    Abandoned on-site.

    October 1994

    To RAAF Museum Townsville, Townsville, Queensland.
    The largely intact airframe was secured by the museum for use as a parts source for A-20 A28-8 and A-20 42-86786.

    Recovered.
    Recovered from the swamp using a Mil-26.

    From Unknown to 23 November 1994

    Transported by ground. Delivered to RAAF Amberley, QLD.
    Moved from PNG TO to Amberley.

    The wings and other parts were used in the restoration of 42-86786 and A28-8.

    By 1999

    On behalf of the owner stored with/at RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre, RAAF Amberley, Ipswich, Queensland.
    The stripped hulk was placed in storage at Amberly.

    Moved from Amberly to Point Cook.

    From By 2002 to By 2004

    To RAAF Laverton.
    Store.

    July 2002

    With 43-9436 forming the basis of a complete A-20 components collection, it was offered for trade by the RAAF Museum.

    September 2004

    To Precision Aerospace Productions/Murray Griffiths, Wangaratta, VIC.

    September 2005

    Placed in storage at Wangaratta.

    A-20 43-9436 was to be one of three A-20s to be restored at Wangaratta. One was to be for Jerry Yagen, another to be retained by Precision Aerospace and the other for sale.

    Repair started.

    Circa 23 June 2010

    As part of the restoration the fitting out of the cockpit was started. By the time the starboard inner wing had been fitted and the engines were ready for installation.
