    Crashed.
    The accident occurred at the Midland International Airport (MAF) Midland, TX, United States while taxiing. The damage was minor. The six-ship formation of vintage World War II airplanes had completed their run-ups on the taxiway and were preparing for departure. A departure clearance was received from air traffic control and the six-ship formation proceeded to the runway for takeoff. The Goodyear Corsair airplane was sixth in formation and trailing the Nakajima Zero airplane...

    Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Michael Schiffer from Ovid, MI. Qualified in 14th place with an average speed of 299.938 mph. Started Heat 1C, but did not finish. Raced in Heat 2D. Finished in 7th place with an average speed of 264.526 mph. Raced in Heat 3. Finished in 6th place with an average speed of 266.519 mph. Raced in the Medallion 2 race. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 308.693 mph.
