    Event

    Circa 1951

Constructed as a F-86E-15-NA by North American at Inglewood, California, USA.
John R. Page comments (November 2014): This airframe was a late E early F 172. There were 93 E-15 Sabres, that were early Fs, classified that way because of a delay in delivery of the new F series engine. They were built with the E engine. Of the first 100 of these E-15/F-15, the first seven were built with J47-27 engines and were true F-86F-1-NAs. Six of the seven saw action in Korea w/51 TFW. The E-15s had flight factors like the E-10s, but looked like F-1s and went to training units.

    Circa 1951

Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 51-13067.

The accident occurred at the Salinas Municipal Airport (SNS) Salinas, CA, United States while landing. The damage was substantial. During an air show, the pilot made several uneventful flybys, then landed near the beginning of the runway. During rollout, the pilot noted a hydraulic brake system failure.
