Richard Phillips comments (29 December 2020): During this period I was stationed at Nellis AFB. We received F4D 64-0959 new from the factory to Fighter Weapons School. I was crew chief on this airframe. The plane was new and I was the first Air Force crew chief assigned to this aircraft. My goal was to get 100 hours without having an abort. I missed my goal by 2 hours. The 64-0959 Phantom had the best record in our fleet. When the base commander(General Pete Everest) flew to Washington D.C., he flew 64-0959. |
