Larry Malone comments (15 February 2017): The following is paraphrased from Air America by Dr Joe Leeker published 15 August 2003: Mentioned in the letter written by Clyde S. Carter to the Dept. of the Army on 2 December 71 as bailed to Air Asia under contract no. DAJ001-71-L-0013 (P2B), but without giving an identity (in: UTD/CIA/B15F2); the identity is given in a Memorandum dated 19 July71 listing aircraft covered with insurance for Public Liability, Property Damage, and Passenger Liability (in: UTD/Herd/B2); probably, this is the UH-1 that was used to train the crewmen of the 34th Squadron of the Republic of China Air Force at Tainan for the wiretap mission into Vinh, North Vietnam. Probably returned to the US Army in late 71; not current on 1 April 72 (List of aircraft assigned and maintained by Air America Udorn in April 72 (UTD/CIA/ B49F2); noted during March 2003 in storage at the AMCOM/Dynacorp facility at Temple/Draughton-Miller RAP, TX; still there in March 2005. |
