    1998

    Constructed as a S-38 (replica).
    Built by Born Again Restorations as a partial mock-up of the Sikorsky S-38 Amphibian named Carnauba that was used by Herbert Johnson in 1935 on trips to Brazil to search for carnauba palms for the familys wax business. It was built for the EAA to be used as an educational display.

    Notes: This beautiful replica was built in 1998 by Born Again Restorations, representing a machine from a major local company, S.C. Johnson Wax. It bears the appropriate name Carnuba. She is now on display at the EAA AirVenture Museum.
