    Constructed as a Spitfire XVIe.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Air Force with s/n TE288.
    Served with 61 OTU, 501 RAuxAF Squadron (coded RAB-D).

    1951

    Withdrawn from use.
    And stored.

    From 1955 to 1963

    Spent time as a gate guard at RAF Rufforth, Church Fenton and finally Dishforth.

    1963

    To Canterbury Brevet Club, Christchurch, New Zealand.

    From 1963 to 1984

    Mounted on a pole on Memorial Avenue at Christchurch International Airport.

    Original Spitfire aircraft donated to RNZAF Museum and replaced with a Fibregalass replica.

    Notes: The original Spitfire aircraft is taken down from its pole on 5th March 1984 - to be later restored and displayed at the RNZAF Museum at Wigram

    Markings Applied: OU-V
    The aircraft is displayed in the Aircraft Hall as OU-V of No. 485 Squadron in Europe in 1945.
