    Assembled at Essendon and first flown. Originally had SGR.1820-G2 engines.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Australian Air Force with s/n A30-3.

    Transferred to 8 SQN., Canberra.

    To Australian National Airways Pty. Ltd with new c/r VH-ABR (DC3-232A, 2029).

    Notes: Another original DC-3, VH-ABR was assembled by Australian National Airways at Essendon in October 1938, named Kanana.ANA became Ansett-ANA in 1957, and VH-ABR was transferred to Airlines of South Australia in 1961

    Bill Wordsworth comments (22 April 2014): A little history. Between Oct.1988 and Feb 2008 the aircraft was owned by Ansett Transport Industries/Ansett Australia (subject to a deed of company Arrangement). It was operated by the Ansett Historical Airctaft Society.

    Bill Wordsworth comments (22 April 2014): In 2008 the Ansett Australia (subject to a deed of company Arrangement) administrator agreed to sell the aircraft to the society but would not allow use of the name Ansett in the society name. The society was renamed Kanana Historical Airctaft Society and aircraft ownership transferred to the society.

    Bill Wordsworth comments (22 April 2014): For financial reasons in 2010 the Kanana Historical Airctaft Society changed it name again to R M Ansett Historical Aircraft Society.
